Marianist Pastoral Team
The St. Anthony Catholic Community welcomed the new "Marianist Pastoral Team" on August 5th at the 9:00am Sunday Eucharist. Fr. Jerry Pleva who hails from St. Francis, Wisconsin, Bro. Jim Vorndran from Pittsburgh, PA and Fr. Roland Bunda from Waialua, Oahu -Hawaii began a new era of Marianist presence in Wailuku, Maui. Bro. Stephen Glodek, Provincial Superior of the Marianist Order mentioned in his letter to the parish that "under their leadership, may the parish continue to grow, to deepen its faith, and to respond to the needs of the poor on the Island". Fr. Roland was installed as Pastor by Bishop Larry Silva of the Diocese of Honolulu on Saturday, August 18, 2007. Family, friends, and parishioners welcomed Fr. Roland at this festive gathering held at the 5:00 p.m. Mass. A reception and dinner followed the installation. Bro. Stephen assured the parishioners that "may our gracious God bless all the parishioners of St. Anthony's, their families, the educational institutions there, and the parish's outreach to the poor and the downtrodden. May the family spirit of Blessed William Joseph Chaminade continue to characterize you and your hospitality to others, and may Mary, our mother, draw you ever closer each day to her Son."
